Project brief
Location: Stockwell
This London terrace home’s kitchen was an uninviting space, overflowing with belongings accumulated over the years, impractical for a modern family and had seen better days. The clients hired us to work on this, their utility, and conservatory. This kitchen had to be bought back to life, making it easy for the family to use and enjoy.
Goal: Create a brand-new kitchen without moving the sink and hob to save on cost. Provide practical and additional storage for belongings. Design an aesthetically pleasing space that complements the terrace house they live in by making this a traditional look for modern use.
Practical requirements: Replace everything in the kitchen, including the floor and ceiling lights. Provide more storage for food and utensils. Design better lighting for the room. Make the practical use of this kitchen seamless. Create more worktop space that can be used daily.
Design: We designed a brand-new kitchen custom-made for the space. By removing the inbuilt cupboard, we were able to create a double larder, which also allowed space for a large fridge freezer. Creating new and extended cupboards gave the clients more worktop space. We ensured the corner cupboard was space-efficient. There are plinth drawers for additional storage. A custom-made fake chimney breast was installed as part of the aesthetics and served as the ideal space for spices and oils. We space-planned for the client, ensuring they now have space to accommodate all their belongings with additional storage space for future purchases. We proposed removing the door and door frame to the conservatory for a seamless flow between the spaces. This is now a kitchen that makes the family happy to cook in rather than drive them with frustration. It’s a room that makes them proud and easy to use on a daily basis.
